High End Smartphone Review: Elephone P9000 Edge Vs Elephone P9000

The common impression of China smartphones in the public is that they are cheap, budget and low end smartphones, especially comparing with the top global smartphone OEMs like Samsung and Apple. However, as the smartphone industry developed and market need and mobile phone manufacturing improved a lot in past two or three years, more and more Chinese manufacturers rank top in World’s smartphone stage and start to offer solid quality and high end smartphones for users across the world, Huawei for example. Actually, besides the top local China smartphone OEMs, the local white label Android smartphone makers also have their own markets and become well-known in their specific smartphone makers, Elephone for example. And just several weeks ago, Elephone announced Elephone P9000 in their 2016 first event and confirmed some specifications of Elephone P9000’s variant – Elephone P9000 Edge, two high end smartphones with same MediaTek high end chipset, Helio P10 (MT6755).

Even adopted with same processor, Elephone P9000 is a bit different from Elephone P9000 Edge and below is a simple review of these two high end smartphones from hardware, design, display, camera and additional features.

Review of Hardware: Elephone P9000 vs Elephone P9000 Edge

Both Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge sports with the newly released high end processor from MediaTek, MT6755 or called Helio P10, which has octa-core CPUs, providing smooth and stable performance with less power consumption. Combining the true octa core MT6755 processor with ARM Mali-T860 GPU, both Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge have an easy and high performance in multitasking and dealing with complex graphics apps and games. And both Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge have same 4GB of RAM, but the internal memory is a bit different, Elephone P9000 has an internal storage of 32GB, Elephone P9000 Edge doubles, 64GB of internal storage. Coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, Elephone P9000 Edge not only provides a fluent and efficient user experience, but also offers a really large storage for images, videos and documents.

The obvious difference between Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge is the screen border, Elephone P9000 has a narrow bezel while Elephone P9000 Edge is Bezelless. And from the latest leaked image from Elephone, the fingerprint sensor of Elephone P9000 Edge locates on the right side and can work as volume control, while the fingerprint sensor of Elephone P9000 is same as most common high end smartphones, on the back cover under the rear camera. Most of other design aspects are same for Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge.

Review of Display: Elephone P9000 vs Elephone P9000 Edge

Both Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge feature a 5.5 inch FHD IPS touch screen with LG LTPS technology. But from the specifications leaked by Elephone, Elephone P9000 has a thinner touch screen with in-cell full lamination technique, while Elephone P9000 is announced to use OGS full lamination technique for the covered touch screen. Furthermore, Elephone P9000 has an up to 82% screen-to-body ratio with narrow bezel and the color saturation is up to 93% NTSC, Elephone P9000 Edge will be absolutely better or higher than that. And we are waiting for Elephone’s next announcement for confirmed configurations of Elephone P9000 Edge.

Review of camera: Elephone P9000 vs Elephone P9000 Edge

From the known specifications of Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge, the two high end smartphones have different camera sensor even both camera sensors are from the same manufacturer – Sony, which usually makes high-performance camera sensor for high end smartphones and mobile devices. Elephone P9000 features a 13MP rear camera with Sony IMX258 camera sensor, and Elephone P9000 Edge features a 21MP rear camera with Sony IMX230 camera sensor, which considers as the top-notch camera sensor and has a better performance in photo shooting. The front camera sensor of Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge use the same OV8858 camera sensor.

As two high end smartphones, Elephone P9000 and Elephone P9000 Edge provide many advanced additional features than common smartphones.
