Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 has been released last year in the fourth quarter and now has been used in many 2016 new phones, many top phone makers have equipped their new flagship smartphones with this SoC chip. Now the public attention moves to the next generation version of the chipset, which will be most likely called as Snapdragon 830. According to reliable sources, between the Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon 830, there will be two more SoC chips named as Snapdragon 823 and Snapdragon 828. The chipset’s codenames are leaked, along with the Snapdragon 823, 828 and 830 specs as well.

Like the Snapdragon 820, Qualcomm is going to release the three SoC chips for aiming at top end solutions for high end smartphones, so the manufacturing process and architecture must be better than Snapdragon 820. And below is the table comparison of Snapdragon 823, 828 and 830 specs.

Qualcomm SoC Chips – Snapdragon 823 specs

According to the leak specs of Qualcomm’s three SoC chips of above table, the Snapdragon 823 will be the first one to meet us among the Snapdragon 823, 828 and 830, and it will be announced in the second quarter of 2016.

Qualcomm is reportedly to continue to use Samsung’s 14nm LPP process to manufacture Snapdragon 823 just like the Snapdragon 820. It was firstly supposed to be called as the Snapdragon 821 for an obvious predecessor name of the Snapdragon 820, but it will now be known as Snapdragon 823. There will be four cores of Kryo 100 architecture inside with a faster clock speed. The Snapdragon 823 SoC chip will continue to use Adreno 530 GPU, but it is estimated to feature some upgrades as well. The Snapdragon 823 will come with the X12 LTE baseband with Cat. 12/ 13 LTE support. Other specs mentioned in the leaked specs table include Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 support and 600Mbps maximum download speeds. The release date of the Snapdragon 820 SoC chip is not confirmed yet, but it is supposed to be announced later this year, and we will probably find it inside the upcoming Samsung’s new flagship Galaxy Note 6 model. It is also rumored that the ZTE Nubia X8 will sport this Snapdragon 823 SoC chip as well, other devices like LG G Flex 3 and a Sony Xperia phone will also feature the Snapdragon 823 SoC chip.

Qualcomm SoC Chips - Snapdragon 828 specs

Next up is the Snapdragon 828 which will be manufactured using the next and new generation of 10nm FF process and The Snapdragon 828 SoC chip will use Kryo 200 CPU architecture, however, how many cores will be equipped in the SoC chip is not yet confirmed. From the specs table of Snapdragon 823, 828 and 830, the Snapdragon 828 will feature Adreno 519 GPU inside with X12 LTE and Cat. 12/ 13 LTE support. The GPU is lower than the other two SoC chips, and even Snapdragon 820. But it will support 4K x 2K video recording at 60 fps and LPDDR4X memory.

The Snapdragon 820 SoC chip will reportedly be announced in the fourth quarter of 2016. And it is sure that more details of this chipset will be leaked out before its release. So, stay tuned.

Qualcomm SoC Chips - Snapdragon 830 specs

Moving on to the flagship Snapdragon 830 chip, we know that it will feature Kryo 200 cores and will be manufactured on the 10nm FF process as Snapdragon 828 from the specs table of Snapdragon 823, 828 and 830. No details on the core architecture inside leaked, but the GPU will be upgraded to Adreno 540. Also, this SoC chip will feature a new baseband X16 model and will support maximum download speeds up to 980 Mbps. Other features include 4K x 2K video recording at 60 fps and LPDDR4X support.

Like the Snapdragon 828, the flagship Snapdragon 830 is also scheduled to be announced in the Q4 2016. So, expect flagship smartphones of 2017 to be powered by this chip.

More details of the Snapdragon 823, 828 and 830 specs will be leaked later before their release and you can keep an eye on our site to learn the newest information of the three chips specs.
